Raymond A. Haller, 95, life resident of Washington and Morgan Counties, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020, at his home in Brush. He was born July 12, 1925 on the family ranch near Last Chance, Washington County, Colorado, to Arthur & Mary Haller.
He graduated from Woodrow High School, Washington County, Colorado.
On October 25, 1944, he joined the US Army and served in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign and the Philippine Liberation. He was honorably discharged on November 24, 1946.
On June 25, 1949, Raymond was married to June Selby in Brush, Morgan County, Colorado. Together they ranched near Last Chance.
Raymond was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brush and the Woodlin, Washington County, Colorado, Lions Club. He served 48 years as a director on the Eastern Slope Rural Telephone Association,* 403 3rd Ave, Hugo, Lincoln County, Colorado. He was a director on the Morgan Community College Board from 1967 – 1975.
He enjoyed woodworking and chip carving. In this younger years he had a saddle club on the Haller Ranch that included many of the neighbors. He loved working with cattle and horses.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, June of Brush; 3 children, Linda (Ron) Wicks of Brush; Luanne (Doug) Bowers of Woodrow; and Larry (Pennie) Haller of Last Chance; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, 1 grandson, and his parents.
A private family funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brush. Private inurnment will be in the Brush Memorial Cemetery Columbarium. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the SW Washington County Fire Department c/o the Heer Mortuary in Brush.
